Benny

Benny is our much-loved family dog.

Benny is mostly border collie and a little bit Australian Shepherd. Sadly though, Benny has no sheep to attend. Our next-door neighbors have a couple of horses so he diligently keeps an eye on them.

Actually Benny is usually kind of lazy and can often be found napping somewhere in the sun. But a part of his nature is very task-oriented. Always eager to please, whenever we pull into the yard, he will jump to attention and run to his post near the fence.

Of course, we love Benny for who he is, not what he does.

I understand Benny though. I also am eager to please my master, chasing to find something to do that will prove my devotion.

Silly, isn't it?

Dogs are great.

What I love about them is the simplicity and purity of their love and devotion. With humans, we may love them, but things can be pretty complex due to our own baggage as well as others, but dogs love, and that is all they do when they aren't eating or sleeping.

David,
My kids love this post.
Their photo albums are full of pictures of the dog. Man's best friend!
