"Follow Me"

I can relate to the disciples of Jesus, attempting to follow Him, while still preoccupied with assumptions of what His kingdom and rule is all about.

The emerging conversation has been helpful to me in deconstructing many of the assumptions and the religious mentalities that I had learned.

I am beginning to understand the upside down nature of the kingdom, the subversiveness of living opposite to systems of power and influence.

Laying down our lives and picking up our cross are practical behaviors, not ethereal ideas. They are rooted in the reality of how we live and love. Love must become much more than sentimental kindness. As the people of God, we must learn to love in ways that are sacrificial, that cost us, that bring no glory or benefit to us.

The people of God are being drawn into more authentic life in the kingdom, some are being drawn away from religious organizations, others are being stirred within.

Perhaps it is the season, but I pray that the winds of His Spirit will move amongst His people, that He will breathe life and fire into this spontaneous gathering of those who have been called out to express the reality of the kingdom.

Let us be open, sensitive, and expectant to His empowerment.

I like the sentence:
"...we must learn to love in ways that are sacrificial, that cost us, that bring no glory or benefit to us.", because sometimes peoples saying "We love you", but it is so clear that they don't really care about others. Some people have the word Love in their mouth but not in their heart.
I like reading your blog.
